Privacy Policy

SheetVelocity ("the add-in," "we," "our") is a Microsoft Excel add-in that loads spreadsheet data into a database that runs locally, inside Excel's task pane, on your own device. This policy covers the add-in and this website, sheetvelocity.com. It explains what data each one handles, how, and what they do not do.

Data you load into the add-in

The add-in collects nothing about the spreadsheet data you work with. It sends none of it to SheetVelocity's servers. Everything you load, whether from a file you choose or an existing worksheet table, is:

• Parsed and stored in a database that runs entirely inside the Excel task pane's local browser engine.
• Saved only to your own device's local browser storage, so it's available again the next time you open the task pane.
• Never transmitted by the add-in to SheetVelocity, to any server we operate, or to any third party.

The add-in has no telemetry, analytics, or crash reporting, and no account or sign-in.

How the add-in is delivered

Like every Office add-in, SheetVelocity's code is downloaded into Excel from a web server each time the task pane opens. Our files are hosted on Cloudflare, and Excel also loads Microsoft's Office JavaScript library from Microsoft. Those providers receive the standard technical information in any web request, such as your IP address and browser type, and handle it under their own privacy policies. We don't add tracking to those requests, and your spreadsheet data is never part of them.

This website and the waitlist

If you join the waitlist on sheetvelocity.com, we store the email address you enter and the time you signed up. We use it only to tell you when SheetVelocity is available and about major releases. We don't sell it or share it with anyone for marketing. It is stored with our hosting provider, Cloudflare. To have your address removed, contact us through our Support page.

This website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies.

Planned features

The features below are not part of the current add-in. We'll update this policy before or when each one ships.

• AI assistant connector (bring your own AI). If you choose to connect an AI assistant (for example, Claude Desktop or Cursor), your query results and schema (column names and sample values) may be sent to the AI provider you've configured, under that provider's own privacy policy and terms. That connection runs directly between your AI client and your provider, using your own account. SheetVelocity won't operate, proxy, or see it.
• Paid tiers. Creating an account will collect your email address. Payments will be handled by a payment processor (Stripe), and SheetVelocity won't store your card details.

Data storage and security

Data loaded into the add-in lives in your browser's local storage, which only the add-in can reach. Other websites and add-ins can't read it, and SheetVelocity doesn't sync or back it up anywhere. To remove it, use the add-in's "Clear optimized data" action, or clear the browser site data for the add-in. Uninstalling the add-in doesn't automatically delete data it has already stored on your device.

Children's privacy

SheetVelocity is a productivity tool for general business and personal use, and it isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We'll update the date above whenever this policy changes. Material changes will be posted here before or when the related features ship.
